Moderna (NASDAQ: MRNA) had the best single session in its history on Tuesday, 19 August 2026. Before the US open, Merck and Moderna announced that the Phase 3 INTerpath-001 trial of intismeran autogene — an individualized mRNA cancer therapy — combined with Merck's KEYTRUDA had met its primary endpoint in melanoma. The stock opened sharply higher and was quoted up 126.5% at $142.61 in morning trading, per Schaeffer's Investment Research; other outlets recorded the move as "more than doubled". This page explains what the result is, why the market reacted this hard, what is not yet known, which dates come next, and what a trader can actually do on WEEX — which does not list Moderna itself. No price targets, no forecasts.
The facts below come from the companies' own release of 19 August 2026 (linked in Sources) and nothing else.
One thing the release does not contain is the Phase 3 effect size. The hazard ratios quoted in the release — a 49% lower risk of recurrence or death (HR 0.51) and a 59% lower risk of distant metastasis or death (HR 0.411) — are the earlier Phase 2b figures, restated for context. The Phase 3 numbers come with the presentation.
A positive Phase 3 is good news for any biotech; a move of this size says the market was positioned for something else. Three documented factors:
Merck, which co-develops and co-commercialises the therapy, rose about 9% the same day, per Schaeffer's — a larger company, for which this is one programme among many.
| Event | Date | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Full INTerpath-001 data presentation | "An upcoming international medical meeting" — the ESMO Congress 2026 in Madrid runs 23–27 October 2026 and is the obvious candidate | Unconfirmed. Moderna and Merck have not named the meeting or a date. |
| Regulatory filing (US / EU) | Not announced | Companies say they will engage with regulators; no date. |
| Moderna Q3 2026 earnings | Not yet announced; Moderna's Q3 2025 call was on 6 November 2025, and data providers pencil in late October / early November | Unconfirmed — check Moderna's investor-relations events page. |
| Phase 2 renal cell carcinoma readout (same programme) | "Potentially by year-end" (analyst expectation) | Analyst estimate, not a company date. |
We will correct this table when Moderna confirms the meeting and the earnings date. Until then, treat every date above as a calendar note, not a fact.
The first thing to say plainly: WEEX does not list a Moderna (MRNA) market — no perpetual, no tokenized stock. The nearest instrument on WEEX is the XBI-USDT perpetual, which tracks the SPDR S&P Biotech ETF (XBI) — a basket of US-listed biotechnology shares of which Moderna is one constituent among many. An XBI position is exposure to the sector, not to Moderna: on a day when one constituent doubles, the basket moves far less. For single-name health-care exposure, WEEX also lists perpetuals on Eli Lilly (LLY-USDT), Novo Nordisk (NVO-USDT), Amgen (AMGN-USDT) and Regeneron (REGN-USDT) — none of which is a proxy for Moderna's result. See the futures market listings for what is currently offered.
Route 1 — US brokerage access: buy MRNA directly on Nasdaq during US market hours through a brokerage that offers US equities. You hold the shares, with shareholder rights.
Route 2 — on WEEX (futures first):
A perpetual position is not the ETF or the stock: it is a derivative designed to track the underlying's price, its market price can deviate from the underlying (funding, liquidity, volatility), and leverage amplifies losses as well as gains. This matters especially in the days after a sector-moving headline, when moves can be larger and faster than usual — understand the mechanics and risks before trading.
| Point of comparison | US brokerage (MRNA) | WEEX (XBI-USDT perpetual) |
|---|---|---|
| What you hold | Moderna common stock | Perpetual futures position designed to track the XBI ETF price |
| Exposure | Moderna only | The US biotech sector; Moderna is one constituent |
| Account requirement | US-market brokerage account | WEEX account |
| Shareholder rights | Yes | No — price exposure only |
| Event risk | Yes | Yes — amplified by leverage |
No. INTerpath-001 met its endpoints; the companies say they will engage with regulators on filing. No submission date and no approval has been announced.
Not as of 20 August 2026 — WEEX lists no MRNA market. The closest listed instrument is the XBI-USDT perpetual on the S&P Biotech ETF, in which Moderna is one holding among many. Check the futures listings for current markets.
At "an upcoming international medical meeting", per the companies — unnamed and undated. ESMO 2026 (Madrid, 23–27 October) is a candidate, not a confirmation.
This content is for information only and is not investment, medical or legal advice. The clinical facts are as stated in the companies' 19 August 2026 release; the presentation and earnings dates are unconfirmed and Moderna's official announcements take precedence. Perpetual futures are designed to track an underlying's price; they are not the stock or the ETF, carry no shareholder rights, and leverage amplifies losses as well as gains. Revolut ends support for USDT across the EEA and Switzerland on 31 August 2026: any balance still in the app is automatically converted into the account's main currency at what Revolut calls the current market rate, with the customer controlling neither the rate nor the timing. Buying already stopped on 6 July and deposits after 30 July, leaving an in-app sale or a withdrawal to a wallet you control as the choices before the deadline.

The deadline for the Base, Early Lump-Sum and Intermediate Repayments in the Mt. Gox civil rehabilitation is 31 October 2026 (JST), set by the Rehabilitation Trustee's notice of 27 October 2025 with the permission of the court. The trustee's own notices record five changes to that deadline, not three, and state no consequence for the 2026 date passing.

Banco Santander's Form 13F-HR, filed July 29, 2026, reports 129,615 shares of BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust worth $4.31M as of June 30 — its first-ever disclosed spot-bitcoin-ETF position, alongside a first ether-ETF holding. What the filing shows is a quarter-end snapshot of ETF shares; what it does not show is motive, or bitcoin on the bank's balance sheet.

Agave v4.2 targets mainnet feature activations on 17 August 2026, but the slot-time change is only step one of a five-step reduction — 400ms to 350ms, not the 200ms end state. Alpenglow's complete code ships with this release; its activation is set for v4.3.

Japan and the United States bought yen together on 31 July 2026, their first coordinated yen-buying operation since June 1998, and the currency has since firmed from a 40-year low of 163.99 into the 155-156 area. This explainer sets out the three channels linking the yen to bitcoin: carry-trade unwind risk, yen-denominated repricing, and the dollar-weakness correlation that points the other way.

Washington has reportedly joined Japan in supporting the yen for the first time since 2011. Learn why the Treasury is buying Japanese yen, what it means for the yen carry trade, and how Bitcoin and crypto markets could react.
