The available electric capacity of Ukraine is currently 15 GW, taking into account cogeneration and imports. This figure is planned to be increased to 21.4 GW by the end of the year, provided there are no significant damages due to Russian attacks. Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal reported that over 40% of the capacity is provided by nuclear generation, 25% by thermal power plants, and 15% by hydropower. Currently, six out of nine nuclear power units are operational, three are under scheduled maintenance, and repairs have been completed on five units. By November 1, the available capacity is expected to reach 19.6 GW. The operation of the energy system depends on the intensity of Russian attacks, especially during evening hours. The Cabinet also plans to commission at least 800 MW of gas generation by 2026, of which no less than 200 MW should be provided by state energy companies.
