Anchorage Digital CEO Nathan McCauley envisions AI agents as future "first-class economic actors" operating like "The Jetsons" across cash, card, and crypto rails. The firm has developed an agentic banking platform with a "know-your-agent" setup to facilitate transactions. In an interview at the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium 2026, McCauley stated that the platform allows agents to interact on-chain and with traditional payment methods. He emphasized the need for controls and structures to enable these interactions. In May, Anchorage Digital launched Agentic Banking, an institutional platform for AI-driven finance, providing a trust, governance, and settlement layer for institutions to manage AI agents. McCauley noted that while agents can use some on-chain services, the broader economy has not fully adopted crypto rails. He highlighted the necessity for AI agents to have bank accounts to send and receive funds effectively. McCauley anticipates an increase in agent-driven smaller transactions, with blockchain networks facilitating microtransactions. He explained that blockchain gas fees represent microtransactions, and agents may engage in single API calls rather than subscribing to services.
