Google Moves 90-Person AI Ethics Team Out of DeepMind
Google has separated a team that researches the risks and societal impacts of artificial intelligence from the DeepMind lab. This adjustment comes after the departure of DeepMind co-founder and former CEO Demis Hassabis. Some team members are concerned that this change will negatively affect the department's work. Starting next week, the approximately 90-person AI ethics team will be integrated into Google's global affairs department, which handles the company's lobbying, public relations, and public policy matters.
