Ukrainian New Car Market Falls by 30.9%, Toyota Holds 22.3% Market Share
In August 2026, Ukraine registered 4,794 new passenger cars, which is 7.6% less than in July 2026 and 30.9% less compared to August 2025. This is the lowest figure in the last six months. Toyota became the sales leader with a 22.3% share of the new passenger car market. Most of the cars purchased in August were gasoline-powered — 1,765 vehicles (36.8%). Hybrids took second place with 1,627 vehicles (33.9%). Diesel cars accounted for 881 registrations (18.4%), electric vehicles — 504 (10.5%), and cars with gas equipment — 17 (0.4%). Registrations of electric vehicles fell from 1,944 to 504 units, representing a decrease of 74.1% and accounting for 67.2% of the overall decline in the car market. At the same time, compared to July 2026, the number of purchased electric cars increased by 110 units (27.9%). The ten most popular brands made up 69.0% of the market, while the top three accounted for 39.1%: 1. Toyota - 1,068 vehicles (22.3%); 2. Skoda - 429 vehicles (8.9%); 3. Renault - 376 vehicles (7.8%). The most popular model was the Toyota RAV4 with 445 registrations.
