The monthly recharge amount for stablecoin cards has surpassed $1 billion for the first time in July, reaching $1.08 billion (approximately 1.5282 trillion won). This figure comes from the flow of card recharges rather than exchange trading, indicating an expansion in the utilization of stablecoins as a payment infrastructure. According to CryptoRank, the monthly recharge amount for stablecoin cards in July increased by 16% compared to the same period last year. Stablecoin cards allow users to load digital assets onto prepaid or debit cards, which are then converted into local fiat currency at the time of payment. Stablecoins are considered more suitable as payment assets due to their lower price volatility compared to Bitcoin (BTC) or Ethereum (ETH). However, the recharge amount may not necessarily translate into actual spending, and some funds may be converted to cash through on-chain withdrawals or banking routes. This figure is significant as it indicates that the usage of card-based stablecoins has exceeded $1 billion monthly.
