Spider-Man: Brand New Day had the second-best opening in cinema history, grossing $927 million worldwide, and is expected to surpass $1 billion. In just four days, the film exceeded the total earnings of The Odyssey. Tom Holland's fourth appearance as Peter Parker premiered last Thursday, also marking the second-best record in the United States with $335 million. The film, which is Sony's highest-grossing debut in history, earned $572 million in the international market, with China contributing $121 million. It only fell behind Avengers: Endgame, which debuted with $357 million in the United States and grossed over $1.2 billion globally during its opening in 2019. The $927 million gross surpasses that of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, which reached $911 million in three weekends. The Odyssey will soon premiere in South Korea, China, and Japan. The success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day is not surprising, given that Spider-Man is one of Marvel's most lucrative franchises. Holland's third film, Spider-Man: No Way Home, grossed over $1.9 billion. The performance of Brand New Day provides Marvel with a much-needed boost ahead of the release of Avengers: Doomsday in December, following a series of films with modest results over the past five years.
