Spanish Actor Manolo Solo Passes Away, Goya Award Winner

Spanish actor Manolo Solo passed away at the age of 62 in the early hours of Thursday, according to the Academy of Cinema of Spain. Recognized for his work in film, theater, and television, he won the Goya Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2017 for his role in "Tarde para la ira" and was nominated this year for Best Leading Actor for "Una quinta portuguesa." His wake will be held at the San Isidro funeral home in Madrid on Thursday and Friday. Born in Algeciras, Cádiz, in 1964, Solo had a distinguished career in the Spanish audiovisual industry, participating in films such as "El laberinto del fauno" (2006), "Biutiful" (2010), and "El buen patrón" (2021). He made his film debut in 1986 with "El vivo retrato" and worked with directors such as Guillermo del Toro and Alejandro Amenábar. In addition to the Goya, he received the Feroz Award for Best Supporting Actor and several awards from the Actors' Union. His last work was in the series "Anatomía de un instante" (2025).
