SK Telecom of South Korea has announced the establishment of a dedicated artificial intelligence data center subsidiary, SK Hyper, with plans to invest a total of 750 billion won to expand its AI data center business. Initially, 330 billion won will be invested, with the entire investment expected to be completed by December 2030, ultimately holding 100% ownership of the company. SK Hyper will be responsible for the development and commercialization of large AI data center projects, including site selection, power infrastructure, and customer collaboration in the early stages, and will later introduce financial investors for equity investment and project financing from external sources.
