North Korean Hacker Group Kimsuky Develops Local AI Tools for Cyber Attacks
The North Korean hacker group Kimsuky has developed tools for locally running and managing AI models, including Ollama, GPT4All, and Msty. They have also collected technologies for retrieval-augmented generation, AI agent development frameworks, speech-to-text software, and AI-assisted coding tools like Cursor. These tools can process documents locally, avoiding the transmission of sensitive information to external AI services. Currently, Kimsuky is integrating AI models into malware development, data analysis, and attack automation to enhance the level of cyber attacks. Cybersecurity company Kaspersky has released a threat report stating that Kimsuky has used the "Durian" malware in attacks targeting at least two cryptocurrency companies.
