K Bank has begun expanding its overseas remittance and payment business utilizing blockchain and digital assets. The bank has officially launched the verification of remittance technology connecting South Korea and Hong Kong, as well as the expansion of its Asian network. On the 21st, K Bank signed a memorandum of understanding for overseas remittance and payment cooperation with blockchain company BPMG and Hong Kong's Haseki Group. This agreement focuses on building a remittance and payment infrastructure based on digital assets. The three companies plan to collaborate on the establishment of a remittance and payment infrastructure based on digital assets, as well as on custody, conversion, and settlement technology, and to explore new business models. The blockchain-based remittance method is expected to simplify the traditional intermediary banking structure, thereby enhancing the speed and efficiency of remittances. K Bank is pushing forward with a proof of concept (PoC) for the Korea-Hong Kong corridor in collaboration with BPMG, while also considering service expansion in connection with Haseki Group's Southeast Asian remittance network. This cooperation has the potential to promote collaboration between banks and digital asset companies in the Asian remittance market.
