Iran Released a Video with Threats Against Melania and Barron Trump: Tensions with the US Escalate

The escalation of tension between the United States and Iran added a new episode after a media outlet close to the Revolutionary Guard released a video with explicit threats against the family of US President Donald Trump.

The material, published by the Iranian agency Tasnim, contains references to the routine of Melania Trump, proposes methods to assassinate her, and includes an intimidating message directed at Barron Trump, the youngest son of the president.

What the Video Released by Iran Shows

The video, titled "Where to Kill Melania", was created in Persian using publicly available information about the First Lady's movements in New York.

The images recreate the caravan that usually accompanies Melania Trump and identify various places she frequents.

Additionally, the content describes aspects of the security operations prior to her outings, such as the removal of trash bins from certain streets, a measure that, according to the video, would allow anticipating her presence.

The video targets Barron and Melania Trump.

The material also calls on the so-called "freedom fighters" to assassinate the First Lady using a nerve agent and suggests the possibility of bribing members of her team to facilitate the attack.

Towards the end, there is a threat directed at Barron Trump, the president's son: "This is just the beginning; Barron Trump, wait for us".

The Response from the US Secret Service

Following the release of the video, the United States Secret Service confirmed that it is aware of the case that has concerned authorities.

Spokesperson Nate Herring told Newsweek that the agency investigates "anything that could be perceived as a threat against the individuals under our protection."

At the same time, he clarified that, for operational security reasons, the agency does not comment on intelligence tasks or the protective measures it undertakes.

An Escalation That Dates Back to the Assassination of Qasem Soleimani

The threats occur in a context of sustained confrontation between Washington and Tehran since Donald Trump ordered the operation that ended with the death of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani in January 2020, during his first term.

Since then, leaders and sectors linked to the Iranian regime have publicly reiterated promises of retaliation against the US president.

In recent weeks, it has also emerged that Israel shared with the United States intelligence information about a supposed "specific" plan to attack Trump.

According to CNN, citing official sources, US agencies were already closely monitoring multiple threats, although the Israeli warning referred to an alleged concrete plot.

Statements from Donald Trump

When asked by reporters during the return from a NATO summit aboard Air Force One, Donald Trump stated that he continues to be a target of the Iranian regime.

"They want to eliminate the leader of the United States, me. This morning I saw that I am on each of their lists," said the US president.

The president added: "So far, I guess I've had a bit of luck, but maybe that won't last long."

Public manifestations against Trump have multiplied in recent months. In Tehran, posters with images of the US president, Melania Trump, and several members of his family appeared on coffins covered with US flags.

During the recent funeral of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in Mashhad, many attendees also displayed banners with the message "We will kill Trump" and chanted slogans against the US president.

Furthermore, in 2024, US Justice reported that it was investigating an alleged plan attributed to the Revolutionary Guard to assassinate Trump before the presidential elections that year.

Ongoing Negotiations and New Warnings

The release of the video coincided with a particularly delicate moment in the conversations between the United States and Iran, as both parties explore the possibility of reaching a diplomatic agreement.

Although Trump stated that he had "positive" conversations with Iranian representatives, he warned again that he would resort to force if negotiations fail.

The president affirmed that he keeps on the table the possibility of attacking Iranian strategic targets, including Pickaxe Mountain, as well as bridges and power plants.

"It's a very, very delicate balance. So I think right now we have a very strong position. They know I'm going to do it if they don't reach an agreement," expressed the US president.
