Institutional Funds Control 11% of Ethereum Supply

11% of Ethereum's supply is concentrated in institutional investment products and corporate balance sheets. As of July 1, 2026, companies holding spot ETFs and digital asset treasuries collectively own 7,797,994 ETH. This amount corresponds to 6.46% of Ethereum's total supply. BitMine Immersion Technologies holds approximately 5.79 million ETH, while SharpLink has about 869,000 ETH. The ETH purchases by companies create a different demand profile compared to short-term investors. Spot Ethereum ETFs provide traditional investors access to ETH. As of July 1, there was a net inflow of $10.86 billion into spot ETH ETFs in the U.S. This indicates that institutional access is not limited to direct purchases. However, it is noted that the 11% share does not necessarily mean a permanently locked supply. ETF shares can be redeemed, and companies may sell based on their strategies. There is no direct equivalence between institutional ownership and the withdrawal of supply from the market. Accumulation towards Ethereum holds more potential for tokenized assets and corporate blockchain applications beyond price-driven purchases.
