IBM Completes Acquisition of HRL Laboratories to Advance Quantum Computing
IBM announced today that it has completed the acquisition of HRL Laboratories, LLC. HRL is a research and development organization focused on quantum computing, quantum sensing, advanced communications, electronics, manufacturing, and materials science. This acquisition enhances IBM's innovation and investment in quantum manufacturing and infrastructure. HRL's expertise in silicon-based quantum technology will facilitate collaboration with IBM's pure quantum foundry, Anderon, supporting scalable manufacturing methods and accelerating the learning cycles of various quantum computing paradigms. Boeing and General Motors will continue to collaborate with IBM and HRL on quantum applications and advanced technology development. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
