The Defense Procurement Agency (DOT) has announced its first competitive tender for the purchase of long-range strike UAVs to target objectives on enemy territory. Deputy Minister Mstislav Banik noted that procurement is moving towards transparent competitive conditions. UAVs are classified by flight range and payload weight, and must autonomously perform flight tasks. Each class includes one to three lots, with one manufacturer able to receive no more than 50% of the order within a single lot. Manufacturers with at least one coded product in the relevant class are invited to participate. The tender will take place in a closed environment, adhering to security requirements. The Ministry of Defense began transitioning procurement to a competitive format in 2025, announcing 70 tenders, and 26 in 2026. In the first half of 2026, DOT contracted UAVs worth 333.6 billion UAH, which is double the figure from the previous year.
