The Cryptocurrency Innovation Committee and the Blockchain Association filed a lawsuit against the Illinois government on Friday, claiming that the cryptocurrency tax violates the U.S. Constitution, the Illinois Constitution, and the Internet Tax Freedom Act. The tax is expected to generate an additional $60 million for the state budget, but critics point out that even taxpayers who incur losses on cryptocurrency will be taxed, as the tax is based on transaction volume.
