Berkshire Hathaway CEO Highlights AI Impact on Alphabet Investment
The CEO of Berkshire Hathaway stated that the investment in Alphabet has expanded amid discussions with Warren Buffett, emphasizing that the impact of AI on businesses and the U.S. economy is a key consideration. In a CNBC interview on September 2, CEO Greg Abel explained the background of the Alphabet investment and his views on the increased power demand due to the expansion of AI data centers. He mentioned that AI is bringing significant changes to Berkshire's investment decisions and energy business. The investment in Alphabet began about 15 months ago, and additional purchases have been made since then. When a large stock purchase opportunity was presented in May, they finalized the deal considering a $10 billion scale and a 6.5% discount. He added that AI has heightened interest in Alphabet and that Berkshire's subsidiaries are exploring how to utilize AI. However, CEO Abel did not disclose specific reasoning behind individual stock investment decisions. He noted that power will be a significant constraint in the expansion of AI data centers and mentioned that the power demand from data centers could present meaningful opportunities. He cited Iowa as an example, explaining that about 8% of last year's load came from data centers. He emphasized that the principle of power supply for data centers should not impact existing customer rates and added that community acceptance is also important.

Bitcoin Back Above $81K, Payrolls in Focus | WEEX TradFi Daily(Sept. 4, 2026)
Today’s market narrative was shaped by a recovery in crypto risk appetite and a deeper extension of the AI investment theme. Bitcoin moved back above $81,000 as macro pressure eased at the margin, while NVIDIA’s acquisition of Hugging Face underscored the strategic shift from compute dominance toward control of model ecosystems and developer access points. At the same time, results from Snowflake and Ciena reinforced that AI spending is spreading from semiconductors into software and network infrastructure. Near term, the August U.S. payrolls release is likely to be the key catalyst for rates expectations and valuation direction across growth assets.
