Andreessen Horowitz Launches $1.1 Billion Machine Age Fund
Andreessen Horowitz has established a $1.1 billion "Machine Age Fund" focused on investing in hardware and computing infrastructure for the AI era. Alongside this, they have raised additional funds for their fifth growth fund, expanding its total size to $8.5 billion. The Machine Age Fund will invest in core computing infrastructure such as semiconductors, memory, networking, and storage, as well as hardware and systems including data centers, robotics, and home AI devices. Andreessen Horowitz believes that as the scope of AI utilization expands, the importance of computing infrastructure grows, emphasizing the need for new technological innovations and investments. Through this fund, they plan to formalize hardware as a key investment area and expand support for AI infrastructure companies. The fifth growth fund targets companies that have entered the growth stage of technology firms, and Andreessen Horowitz has supported over 100 growth-stage companies in the past seven years. Additionally, they are strengthening their system to support portfolio companies in entering global markets, having opened an office in Seoul and appointed a head for go-to-market strategies in the Asia-Pacific region.
