Agave 4.3 Aiming for Mainnet Feature Activation on September 28

The core development team of Solana, Anza, has announced the release schedule for Agave 4.3 and is pushing for the activation of mainnet beta features on September 28. This release will gradually activate the AlpenGlow consensus protocol and new system call functionalities. Anza created the Agave 4.3 branch on August 11, began recommending testnet node upgrades on August 17, and plans to activate features on August 24. The mainnet beta schedule will commence in September, with a candidate for the upgrade designated on September 4, and plans to recruit validators to move 10% of the total staking amount to Agave 4.3 on September 8. On September 14, a request for the transfer of 25% of the amount will be made, and general adoption will be recommended on September 21. Anza has stated that all dates are subject to change and has advised validators to await announcements on Discord. The core feature of Agave 4.3 is AlpenGlow, which aims to reduce finality delays by utilizing stricter time control and a BLS encryption-based structure compared to the existing Tower BFT. This release is part of an infrastructure schedule to improve both validator operations and the developer environment within the Solana ecosystem.
