Labor shortages are the main challenge for Ukrainian businesses, with 71% of enterprises considering the lack of personnel a barrier to production. In a June survey conducted by the Institute for Economic Research and Political Consulting (IER), over 80% of companies in Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Zhytomyr, and Zaporizhzhia regions reported this issue. The proportion of enterprises facing difficulties in finding qualified specialists decreased from 60.6% to 46.3%, however, 30.4% of companies still struggle with unskilled workers. Only 4.6% of enterprises plan to increase their staff in the near future. Rising raw material prices rank second among the problems, reported by 50% of companies, while hazardous working conditions concern 41%. Safety is a major concern for large enterprises, especially in Rivne, Odesa, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Sales issues have decreased: 31% of respondents reported a drop in demand, compared to 38% in May. Logistics problems affect 30% of companies, and power, water, or heating outages impact 19%. More than 1,500 Ukrainians over the age of 50 have found jobs thanks to the program.
